At The Old Manse we aim to cater for all the needs of all our visitors. We invite you into our home offering three bedrooms to our guests on a bed and breakfast basis. This is a non-smoking establishment.

This statement is a detail of the facilities we provide. If you have any specific queries then please contact us by telephone or e mail.

PRE-ARRIVAL

* Limited Bus service to the village from Alnwick/Wooler
* Nearest mainline railway station is 17 miles at Berwick Upon Tweed
* Nearest Airport is 50 miles at Newcastle International
* Taxi services available – please ask for details and we will arrange
* Cycle hire available in Wooler we can arrange pickup and drop off
* Transfers available for walkers
* Allergy sufferers/special requests to advise us of requirements
* Hospitals, dentists, opticians in Berwick and Alnwick. Vets in Wooler.
* Guests are asked to estimate their time of arrival to assist us. Arrivals welcome at all reasonable times.
* Deposits required on advance bookings and payment on departure is by cheque or cash. No credit card facilities.

ARRIVAL & PARKING

* Property located 50 metres from the main road through stone gateposts. Gravelled driveway to the parking area for three vehicles in marked bays. Additional parking is to the rear of the property for disabled guests with concrete ramp and flat access to ground floor bedroom
* Assistance with luggage offered
* The centre of the village with shop/post office and hotel is located 200 metres from The Old Manse. The Church located 400 metres from the property.
* Over door, security and gatepost lighting. Torches provided in all rooms for additional lighting.

ENTRANCE AND RECEPTION

* The front door is approached by 5 steps maximum 17 cm high with metal support handrails on both sides. Door width 100 cm. Tiled lobby with 8 cm step into carpeted hallway. Passageway 98 cm wide to Guest lounge.
* Main staircase to two bedrooms on first floor. 12 Steps 17 cm high to first landing, 1 step 17 cm high to half landing return of 6 steps 17 cm high to large square top landing. The handrail is to left on all steps. The stairs are lit continuously.
* Reception writing table for check-in 72 cm high. Portable landline telephone available on request.
* Audible smoke alarm with light on stairs, audible smoke alarm in hallway
* A seat is provided in the hallway

PUBLIC AREAS (GENERAL)

* All ground flooring 80/20 wool carpets
* Areas well lit with contrasting dark carpets and light walls and paintwork
* Guest lounge, dining conservatory and disability designated bedroom on ground floor
* All bedrooms ensuite – no public WC available.

DINING

* Breakfast served in the dining conservatory with internal door width of 76 cm and conservatory external double opening doors 165 cm to a decked sitting area. One external door to another decked seating area with door width 84cm, level entry to ramped pathway into a small garden.
* Breakfast normally served around one large dining table but can be made into two tables. Large table 150 cm x 185 cm x 74 cm high Clearance around all sides. Furniture movable. Cold buffet breakfast self serve 77 cm high.
* Additional lounge seating with chair heights of 40 cm.
* Soft lighting with additional reading spotlights
* Portable music centre if required – no piped music throughout the property.
* Breakfast cooked to order. No pre-cooked food. Served between 8.30 – 9.30 but flexible when requested.
* Full choice menu available in large print. Dishes range from traditional cooked breakfast to fish dishes, vegetarian, gluten and wheat free diabetic and coeliac and other special diets are catered for. Please discuss with Christine or Tony for any special dietry needs.
* Dinners are not provided – dining facilities are available in the local inn 200 metres from house. We can make reservations on guest's behalf.

LAUNDRY/DRYING FACILITIES

* Washing and drying available with charge applicable
* Drying/boot room for outdoor clothing

LEISURE

* Cycle hire available locally. Pick up by arrangement
* Pick-up available for walkers by arrangement

* Resident walking/cycling expert for advice on routes and level of difficulty
* Gliding lessons, flights, beauty treatments and any other leisure activity can be arranged
* Swimming available at Alnwick/Berwick 16 miles from property.
* Golf courses within 6 miles
* Gift vouchers available
* Private use of the house available by arrangement i.e wedding parties using local venues (details on website) or special celebrations.

BEDROOMS

There are three bedrooms in total all with en-suite facilities. 80/20 Wool carpets except in the bathrooms. Oil fired central heating throughout. Duvets or blankets on request. Allergy free pillows if required. Duck/featherdown and microfibre pillows standard. Hot water bottles available.

All linen of superior quality – Egyptian cotton or percale. Sheridan, Dorma and Bedeck used. All towels and bathsheets are Egyptian cotton. Robes provided.

Hair dryers, tongs and mousses provided in all rooms. Crabtree & Evelyn toiletries throughout.
